Psychotherapy is so often about pathology and the struggle to help people to restore their functioning.
Noel will challenge this with the concept of recovery which is rooted in the human potential to thrive.
Clients who have spent their lives walking on eggshells and living small, pained lives can blossom into thriving and enjoying life.
Noel will encourage discussion about how you might be limiting your practice with the notion of “restoring functioning”.
Demonstrating how practitioners and clients can thrive in their day to day experience.
Noel began work in the field of health and social care in the mid 80′s and qualified as a specialist psychotherapist in the mid 90′s. He has worked in the statutory, private sector and third sector. His professional roles have been varied meaning he can bring a broad perspective to his practice and also to his training, mentoring, supervision and public speaking.
His professional background includes senior management and front line work, in social services and third sector provision. He is regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council in his clinical practice.
Originally his training was psycho-dynamic and creative therapies focussed. This provided a thorough grounding in clinical practice which he has built on over the past 20 years adding competencies in cognitive behavioural, solution focussed and recovery based models.
Within the clinical frame he has worked in forensics, disabilities, children and families, adult mental health, addiction and recovery. Working with groups or individuals depending on needs and setting. So in his training, mentoring, supervision and public speaking he brings an impressive depth of knowledge of clinical issues as they present in the real world.
His back ground includes being a professional actor and this adds to his ability to engage with groups of people in his training and speaking roles. It’s also useful when mentoring and helping other professionals improve their group work and presentation skills.
Currently he runs a thriving private practice with adults, children and families and couples. Providing therapy for emotional health issues, relationships problems, addiction recovery, codependency recovery. He also mentors and supervises other professionals and provides training and public speaking.
He is embarking on his first book to be published this year.
Noel has a love of wilderness and the outdoors, and when not in the office you will find him camping on a mountainside somewhere. Preferably when it is snowing!
